History Museum of Armenia

The History Museum of Armenia is the main historical museum of Armenia. It is located in the city of Yerevan, on Republic Square. It occupies the lower two floors of the complex. The museum opened to visitors on August 20, 1921
 The History Museum of Armenia was formed using the collections of the Armenian Ethnographical Association of the Caucasus, the Nor Nakhijevan Museum of Armenian Antiquities, the Museum of Antiquities of Ani, and the Vagharshapat Repository of Ancient Manuscripts. The original collection numbered 15,289 objects.  The museum has about 400,000 items of national heritage, divided into the following sections: archeology, ethnography, numismatics, collection documents are replenished through purchases, gifts, finds in ancient settlements in the main territory of Armenia.
The museum presents objects of material culture discovered in the territory of Armenia and relating to periods from the Stone Age to the end of the XIX century․
